Derek Jones

Derek Jones is an International Consultant specializing in strategic analysis of the market and evaluation of opportunities for profitable growth.  His education and training was in finance, economics marketing and business studies.  He spent the first 15 years of his career working in the financial discipline before moving into general management, sales and marketing and then to Chief Executive/ Managing Director positions for a number of companies.  He has varied experience across a number of business sectors, including engineering, electronics, water research, textiles, paper & board and optics.
Derek makes contributions in these key areas of business:

His current worldwide client portfolio is in the financial services, healthcare, automotive, construction, energy management, retail and defence industries, working for companies such as Imperial Tobacco, Microsoft and Siemens.  In addition, he designs and leads modules on MBA programmes for a number of the UK’s Universities and Business Schools.

Bob Hughes

Aeronautical engineering background and Chartered Engineer, his career progressed into engineering training management and human resource development. For the past eight years, his company has focused on people- and organisation development. He now works throughout the UK as an Associate Training Consultant with April Executive Training Limited, and throughout Wales as an independent HRD Adviser to Welsh Assembly Government.
He has been registered, through the All-Wales Quality Centre, as an IiP Adviser and Assessor, working with companies throughout Wales using the Full Standard, the Leadership & Management Model and Profile, and continuing personal development as a Training Quality Standard Assessor.

Bob has particular experience in:

  • Leadership and management development using the April Executive business simulation as the primary means by which to observe, assess and develop leadership and management skills in a realistic and dynamic business simulation programme.
  • Assessment of leadership and management potential using the April Executive business simulation as an integral part of a broader assessment process, and integrating this with psychometric and other questionnaire approaches.
  • Business development and support as an HRD Adviser, business generalist and sector skills specialist in manufacturing, engineering, aeronautical and automotive sectors.

He adds value to his work through:

  • Adopting a flexible and pragmatic approach to the provision of services for which he has been commissioned.
  • Designing and delivering NVQ accredited programmes, through to Post Graduate qualifications.
  • Demonstrating his commitment to the business growth strategies of a broad spectrum of public and private business support organisations, and Welsh Assembly Government.

    Andrew Scowcroft

Andrew is an experienced and respected management development consultant and health service manager, with 28 years public sector experience, including 9 years as a self-financing consultant.  During that time, he has held the posts of Director of Consultancy for the NHS Staff College Wales, Head of Management Development, MCS, Welsh Health Common Services Authority, and Director of Welsh Health Development International, an overseas health consultancy operated from within the NHS.  He has a strong commitment to releasing the potential of leaders and managers, and their organisations, and believes that individuals should take considerable responsibility for the content and style of their own learning.

Andrew holds a Diploma from the Institute of Health Services Management, BPS Level A and B certificates in Psychometric Testing, and is currently studying for an MA in Learning and Change in Organisations, University of West of England.

Hilary Williams

Hilary specialises in being a successful leader and motivator of people, experienced in developing individuals to reach maximum potential. She gained her experience in training, human resources and public relations through her work with organisations such as the Territorial Army (Public Relations Officer) and at ICI (Public Relations, Vacations Course Manager).  She has had extensive involvement with change management, motivational skills (developing people with a broad range of abilities), managing people and projects, promoting the public image of an organisation and the use of effective communication skills.
